A Fresh Start: We’ve kicked off a new era with the warmest welcome to our intems. and introductions from the director and coordinators.
The Nehginpao Kipgen Centre for Southeast Asian Studies (NKCSEAS) and the Pankaj Kumar Jha Centre for Security Studies (PKJCSS) at Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA) extend their gratitude to Cdr (Dr) Arnab Das, Founder & Director of the Maritime Research Centre (MRC), for delivering an insightful lecture on the Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) Framework and its Prospects for India’s Eastern Coastal Security.

🔹 The geopolitical significance of the Indo-Pacific and India’s role in the evolving security landscape.
🔹 The challenges and opportunities in managing underwater security in tropical waters.
🔹 The impact of climate change, blue economy, and sustainable development on India’s maritime future.
🔹 Cutting-edge advancements in underwater technology, surveillance, and strategic defense.
Dr. Das emphasized the need for a regional approach, capacity-building, and stakeholder collaboration to enhance India’s maritime security and ensure a sustainable, secure future. His expertise and research on acoustic surveillance, strategic submarine deployment, and Indo-Pacific security dynamics made this session invaluable for scholars and practitioners alike.
On 25 April 2025, the Nehginpao Kipgen Centre for Southeast Asia (NKCSEAS) hosted its 3rd Dialogue Session on the theme “Assessing Non-Traditional Security Threats in Southeast Asia.”
The session featured insightful student presentations followed by expert feedback and discussions. The papers explored critical issues ranging from cyber threats to environmental security and ASEAN’s evolving role in regional crises.

🔹 Roohi Jolly (2nd Year, JGLS) – on Indonesia’s carbon trading initiatives and climate governance.
🔹 Siddharth Gupta (2nd Year, JGLS) – on ASEAN’s response to climate and geopolitical challenges during COVID-19.
Indonesia in BRICS

We were honoured to host Ambassador (Retd.) Gurjit Singh for an engaging session on “Indonesia in BRICS.” With his rich diplomatic experience and deep understanding of regional dynamics, Amb. Singh offered valuable insights into Indonesia’s evolving role in the BRICS grouping and the wider Global South.
